Bola.com, Jakarta – Penglipuran Village in Bangli Regency, Bali, is preparing a new initiative for the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays.
Starting December 21, 2025, the management will present a tourism program titled “a day as a Balinese” experience, allowing tourists to experience local life and culture firsthand in one full day.

Through this concept, tourists not only visit but also participate in activities typical of the local community.
Visitors will wear traditional Balinese attire and participate in various cultural attractions, with the aim of creating closer and more memorable interactions between tourists and villagers.
The Head of Penglipuran Tourism Village, Wayan Sumiarsa, said this idea arose from the high level of tourist interest in authentic cultural experiences.
He emphasized that the traditional village community has expressed its readiness to collaborate to ensure the success of this program, while also anticipating a potential increase in visitor numbers during the holiday period.
“Tourists want to be Balinese for a day, and wearing traditional Balinese clothing is what’s currently in demand,” said Wayan Sumiarsa.

**The Concept Offered
Dressed in traditional attire, tourists can explore the Penglipuran Tourism Village area from south to north, including exploring the village’s iconic bamboo forest.
The entire visit will be complemented by pre-prepared cultural attractions.
One of the activities offered is a barong macan parade performed by the village’s youth. This attraction is expected to add to the festive atmosphere of Christmas and New Year.
In addition, tourists are invited to sample local culinary specialties, such as tilapia nyat-nyat, a favorite dish in Penglipuran.
The immersive experience is further enhanced by the opening of local residents’ homes as accommodations. Tourists can stay overnight in traditional homes, giving them the opportunity to experience the daily life of the Balinese people more closely.
Following the launch of this new concept, management projects a surge in visits of up to 3,000 tourists per day during peak holiday periods. This projection has been adjusted to the village’s capacity to ensure visitor comfort and prevent overcrowding.
Visitor Dominance
Measures are being taken to regulate the number of visitors to ensure tourism activities continue to operate in harmony with the lives of residents and the preservation of the village environment. Management has also mapped out peak visitor times as part of efforts to control the flow of tourists.
Based on estimates, domestic tourists are expected to continue to dominate visits, particularly from East Java, West Java, and Jakarta. Meanwhile, the number of tourists from Sumatra is predicted to decrease due to the impact of natural disasters in several areas.
From January to November 2025, the number of visits to Penglipuran Tourism Village reached 826,000 people, with an average of around 2,000 visitors per day. By the end of the year, this figure is expected to reach 900,000 tourists.
In response to the potential risks of the rainy season, the management stated that they have taken various precautionary measures. Hazardous areas have been designated, and warning signs have been installed at several strategic points to minimize the impact of extreme weather.
All village elements, from officials and MSMEs to tourism service providers, have prepared to handle the surge in visits.
This preparedness is part of Penglipuran Tourism Village’s commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and memorable holiday experience for tourists.
