**Penglipuran Village in Bali Considered an Example of Cultural Preservation
The Ministry of Culture (Kemenbud) considers Penglipuran Village in Bangli Regency, Bali, a successful example of cultural preservation because it maintains local wisdom sustainably.
“This success can motivate other regions to continue their efforts to preserve and develop local culture,” said Ministry of Culture Secretary General Bambang Wibawarta in Bangli, Bali, Saturday.
The Ministry then initiated the construction of a Cultural Advancement Village inscription as a form of appreciation and support for cultural preservation in Penglipuran Village.
This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the development of cultural tourism in this cool village and raise public awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritage.
Meanwhile, Bangli Regency Regional Secretary I Dewa Bagus Riana Putra expressed his appreciation for the attention and support provided by the Indonesian Ministry of Culture.
He hopes that the inscription will increase Penglipuran Village’s recognition and inspire other villages in preserving their cultural heritage.
“We are very grateful to the Ministry of Culture for this extraordinary support. Penglipuran Village is a valuable asset for us, and we are committed to continuing to preserve and develop its cultural potential,” he said.
According to data from the Bangli Regency Government (Pemkab), Penglipuran Traditional Village covers approximately 112 hectares in Kubu Village, Bangli District.
The cultural tourism village is located at an altitude of approximately 700 meters above sea level, approximately five kilometers from the Kintamani tourist area and approximately 45 kilometers north of Denpasar City.
In accordance with customary law (Awig-awig), the local village adheres to Balinese local wisdom, namely Tri Hita Karana, or the three harmonious relationships between humans and God, nature, and fellow humans.
In addition to its unique, neat, and clean houses, Penglipuran Village also has customary rules prohibiting polygamy to maintain the dignity of women.
