**Penglipuran Village Festival returns
Bangli, Bali (ANTARA) – The annual Penglipuran Village Festival will be held for the eighth time in Penglipuran Tourism Village, Bangli, Bali, from December 7-11, 2021, after being suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The festival’s theme is “Green Destination Based on CHSE,” which stands for “Clean Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability,” which embodies the goal of creating an environmentally friendly green destination by implementing cleanliness, health, safety, and environmental sustainability protocols.
Bangli Regent Sang Nyoman Sedana Arta, in his remarks, quoted from a press release from the Bangli Communications and Information Agency (Diskominfo) in Bangli, Bali, on Wednesday, stated that Penglipuran Tourism Village is the best tourism village in Bangli Regency, Bali Province, and has received various national and international awards, including being recognized as one of the cleanest villages in the world.
The opening of the festival was marked by the beating of the Kul-Kul by the Deputy for Tourism Products and Event Organizers at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Rizki Handayani Mustafa, accompanied by the Regent of Bangli, Sang Nyoman Sedana Arta, the Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, the Chairperson of the Bangli Regency Dekranasda, Sariasih Sedana Arta, a member of the Bangli Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, and the Chairperson of the 2021 Penglipuran Village Festival VIII Committee.
The Regent added that the theme “Green Destination Based on CHSE” was highly appropriate given the tourism situation amidst the pandemic, where health and safety are crucial aspects of the tourism industry.
The implementation of strict health and safety protocols in tourist destinations has become an absolute requirement.
To date, the concept of tourism development has focused solely on increasing quantity, often neglecting quality and environmental carrying capacity.
The concept of green tourism emerges as a new paradigm for the future of global tourism, where current travel trends no longer focus solely on enjoying natural beauty but also on presenting new travel experiences that provide space for tourists to participate in environmental conservation efforts and interact directly with local culture.
“Hopefully, the Penglipuran Village Festival can revive the tourism and creative economy sectors, thereby further boosting the regional economy,” said the Regent.
In his report, I Nengah Sudibia, Chairman of the Penglipuran Village Festival VIII 2021 Committee, stated that the event featured various competitions and a cultural parade showcasing local wisdom from Penglipuran Village. These included the Nilem Parade, Ngusaba Bantal, Ngaturang Utpeti, Barong Ngelawang, and a dance fragment about the death of Bangli hero Anak Agung Anom Mudita entitled “The Fall of the Knight in Penglipuran Village.” The event also included an exhibition of MSME products and a bonsai exhibition.
